14 Years of Excellence

For children who will have big ideas. And the confidence to own them.

UWP is for families who

01 / 07

Want their child’s curiosity to be their superpower.

For parents who want their child to ask why instead of memorising what — to see the world as a series of questions worth investigating, not tests to pass.

02 / 07

Want confidence that comes from doing, not just knowing.

For families who want to see their child build something, test it, present it to a room, and own what they have discovered — because that is how real confidence is built, one brave moment at a time.

03 / 07

Want their child to walk into any room and introduce themselves.

Speak clearly. Make eye contact. Say something worth saying. Not because they were told to — because they have been given the experience of being heard, over and over, since they were three years old.

04 / 07

Want subjects to connect, not sit in silos.

For parents who want to see their child connect why the sun gives light, to how shadows form, to what artists do with light — all through one unit of inquiry. Where science, art, mathematics, and language are always in conversation.

05 / 07

Believe emotional intelligence matters as much as academic intelligence.

For families who want a child who can name what they feel, manage it, and show genuine kindness to the people around them — because those are skills, and skills are taught.

06 / 07

Want a school that feels like a second home.

For parents who value close communication, teachers who really know their child, and a community where the warmth of the school mirrors the warmth of the family.

07 / 07

Want their child to fall in love with learning.

Because a child who loves coming to school, who asks questions on the weekend and wants to tell you about what they found out — that child carries something into every year that follows that no later intervention can fully replace.

Harvard Center on the Developing Child
What Parents Should Know

By age six, the brain has done
most of its foundational wiring.

Harvard’s Center on the Developing Child reports that more than 90% of a child’s brain develops before the age of six. The neural circuits that govern language, attention, self-regulation, and the way a child responds to learning for the rest of their life are largely laid down in these years.

This is why preschool, done well, matters more than people often realise — and why it cannot be made up for later.

A Different Idea About Preschool

We don’t rush children.
We don’t overcrowd their days.

We design an unhurried, intentional ecosystem focused entirely on instilling a lifelong love for learning. Rather than treating education as a race, we nurture every single dimension of the child—academic, emotional, social, and physical. Through our unique blend of pedagogies, structured mindfulness, and character values, we build emotional resilience alongside critical thinking. Every day includes purposeful physical activity (regardless of Singapore’s weather) across our expansive weatherproof spaces, and freshly prepared nutritious meals on-site, ensuring your child’s body is as nourished as their mind.

What we are building is a community that respects children as highly capable, genuinely curious, and full of immense potential from their very first day. We do not spend these critical years preparing them to sit still; we prepare them to stand out.

The UWP learning environment
The Pillars of UWP Excellence

Five years of critical brain development requires more than a single educational philosophy.

The UWP model seamlessly bridges the world’s three most powerful early childhood frameworks with a strong bilingual foundation and comprehensive character development, delivering a 360-degree foundation built for Singapore’s top primary and international tracks.

A Strong Bilingual Foundation for School and Life

Driven by an English-first academic core and structured daily Mandarin tracks, language at UWP isn’t just taught — it’s lived. Children write original stories, give presentations, perform in assemblies, and discuss big ideas. By K2, your child builds the practical literacy, character writing skills, and conversational readiness to speak, read, and write with genuine confidence.

Character Development & Emotional Intelligence

Mindfulness, child-led yoga, and our FLOURISH values are woven into every single day — not as optional extras, but as the foundation for learning. The structured 8Cs framework directly builds the emotional intelligence, empathy, and resilience children actually need for school, friendships, and life. Who your child becomes matters as much as what they learn.

A Culturally Diverse International School Community

Singaporean families and international families learn and grow side by side every day. With children from Singapore, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Finland, Canada, the USA, and Brazil playing and learning together, the result is something most adults spend years trying to develop: genuine global-mindedness and an inclusive outlook, built naturally, from the very start.

The UWP Approach

Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Inquiry-Based Learning — woven into one active, hands-on day.

We don’t train children to memorize answers; we trust them to do, build, and find out for themselves. This is how a child turns natural curiosity into real, lasting understanding.

Inquiry-Based Learning at UWP

Inquiry-Based Learning

UWP children don’t just receive knowledge — they seek it out. Investigating units from space, light, and machines to our planet and sustainability, children absorb complex, unique vocabulary and a rich understanding of the world. By formulating hypotheses and presenting discoveries, asking “why?” simply becomes how they think.

Montessori

Inside our Montessori Lab, children learn through physical precision and deep focus. By independently manipulating specialized materials, children grasp challenging, abstract concepts — making it exceptionally powerful for mastering early numeracy and mathematical reasoning long before seeing a worksheet.

Reggio Emilia approach at UWP

Reggio Emilia

In our Reggio-inspired spaces, the environment is the teacher. Children utilise diverse media — clay, light, and natural elements — to express their ideas and make their thinking visible. Teachers follow the child’s lead, turning creative exploration into profound, collaborative design projects.

It is a single, beautifully integrated journey that builds a complete, well-rounded learner.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know.

We operate a full 12-hour day framework from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday, all year round. Because we are structured to support busy families, we do not close for long seasonal school term holidays. We close only on standard public holidays and a limited number of designated staff professional development days, which are communicated to parents well in advance.
Yes. As an ECDA-licensed preschool, government subsidies are available for eligible Singapore Citizen children. The basic and additional subsidies apply directly toward monthly fees according to standard ECDA criteria based on the mother’s employment status and household income tracks. We guide families transparently through the application process during enrolment.
Nutritious, balanced meals are prepared fresh daily right on campus. While our core menu is healthy and thoughtfully designed for growing children, our kitchen team is highly experienced in managing specific dietary needs. We work closely with families to accommodate severe food allergies, vegetarian preferences, and medical dietary restrictions cleanly and safely.
Movement is fundamental to cognitive and emotional development, so we ensure it happens every single day. Our layout at i12 Katong features over 10,000 square feet of purpose-built, weatherproof space. Classrooms are designed wide enough to host structured yoga and dance sessions, and our two large playgrounds (The Loft and Tot Spot) are completely sheltered from Singapore’s heat and rain, letting children run, climb, and explore without interruption.
Student health is built directly into our infrastructure. Our campus features dedicated fresh air ducts that constantly cycle clean, outdoor air into the school, ensuring carbon dioxide levels stay low and air never stagnates. Additionally, medical-grade air purifiers run continuously across all classrooms and play spaces to filter out micro-particles, allergens, and airborne pathogens.
Traditional harsh fluorescent tubes cause visual fatigue and strain developing eyes. To protect children’s vision during hours of focused work, our entire campus uses specialised dispersive LED lighting. This design diffuses light evenly across the rooms, eliminating harsh glare, reducing shadows, and mimicking the soft, natural quality of daylight to support deep cognitive concentration.
We maintain rigorous hygiene standards through a multi-layered daily routine. All high-touch surfaces, Montessori learning materials, and playground equipment are sanitised multiple times a day using child-safe, non-toxic disinfectants. Classrooms undergo deep cleaning every evening, and we practise strict, guided hand-washing routines with the children before every meal and transition.
To keep our community safe, every child undergoes a mandatory health check — including temperature taking and hand/mouth inspections — immediately upon arrival at the school gate. Children showing any symptoms of illness are gently monitored in a designated resting area until a parent can pick them up, ensuring common childhood illnesses are managed proactively before entering the classrooms.
We believe in transparent, real-time partnership rather than waiting for scheduled term reports. Through our dedicated parent communication app, you will receive daily updates, photos, and insights into your child’s learning discoveries and milestones. Beyond technology, we maintain an open-door policy — our school leaders and educators are always accessible for a grounded conversation about your child’s growth.
Yes. We understand that choosing a preschool is a significant emotional decision, which is why we offer a supportive two-week trial period for all newly enrolled children. This allows your child to gently adapt to our routines, build a secure bond with their educators, and experience the classroom environment before you make a long-term commitment.
